I love adult animated cartoons, like Bob’s Burgers and Rick and Morty. However, I’ve watched most current shows. Now, I’ve been exploring past ones. Here are ones who lasted less than 5 seasons that I wouldn’t mind another season or two.
1.Unsupervised (2012)
Watching this show about ten years ago, i really didn’t like it. Now I feel like I was too young to understand and it was ahead of its time. If it was aired now, it would probably survive more than just one season. It’s very similar to Beavis and Butthead or other bromance adventure TV shows.I feel like it’s a mix of other favorite tv shows like Beavis and Butthead, Big Mouth, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
2. The Life and Times of Tim (2008, 2010-2012)
Tim just kind of makes me feel better about myself. He was just an all around klutz who did very cringey things every episode. It seemed like he could just never pull himself together. It was a simple show with a simple character and just easy to watch.
3. Home Movies (1999-2004)
The animation reminds me a lot of Phineas and Ferb but it’s definitely an older show so don’t expect HD quality. It follows this young kid around, who likes to make videos, and we’re introduced to the dysfunctional adults in his life. I can’t really compare it to any other TV show but give it watch. It’s only like 25 minutes an episode. Additionally, Jon Benjamin (Bob from Bob’s Burgers and Sterling Archer from Archer) is one of the voice actors so that’s exciting.
4. Drawn Together (2004-2007)
This show is a little polarizing. It would definitely be cancelled nowadays with the extremely crude and unpolitically correct humor they have. I think that’s a bit of the reason I’m watching it. It’s a kind of humor that may never exist again and I want to experience what it was. If you like shows with a lot of moving parts, moves really fast and makes fun of other reality TV shows, then give it a chance.
5. Tuca and Bertie (2019)
I feel like I’m watching an animated Broad City. Especially after Broad City was cancelled, I need something to fill the void. About the show…Everything is bird centric. The two main characters who are best friends are birds and the setting is in a version of New York City for birds. I don’t know what else I have to tell you to sell it.
