In order to feel good about myself at the end of my day, I have to feel like I had a productive day. This has been a little difficult to do in quarantine. I’ve been reading a lot of lists about things to do in quarantine and they’re really high effort. Learning a new language or learning to bake bread require an incredible amount of involvement and commitment. Here are some low effort things I do to make me feel like I’ve had a productive day.
1.Start Conditioning Your Non-dominant Hand
I’m right handed and comparatively my left hand is nowhere near as coordinated. Recently, my right hand has been hurting from writing too much or using my computer mouse all day. In the past, I’ve hurt it playing sports and sprained my thumb scrolling my phone (I know). I’ve decided I’m going to take this time to condition my non-dominant hand to write, throw, and phone scroll. I’m sure conditioning it to be more coordinated will come in handy sometime in the future.
2. Figure Out New Outfits and Document Old Ones
Ever stare at your closet wondering what you’re going to wear tomorrow? You’re totally blanking on outfits that aren’t the ones you’ve worn the past couple days? If that sounds like you, just put on all the outfits you can remember and take a picture. It’ll also prevent you from forgetting outfits. Often, I forget about an outfit and I go months forgetting it existed until I see myself wearing it in a picture.
While you’re at it, play dress up and try out new outfit combinations.Literally just throw on anything that you think may pair well together. Document it whether it’s good or bad so you can remember that you’ve tried. A new outfit isn’t a new piece of clothing. It’s just a new combination of clothes you already have. 3. Plan your next vacation(s)
Planning a vacation is very time consuming. The planning can make the vacation itself feel like a burden. You have to figure out where you want to eat, what you want to eat, currency conversion and many others. Rather than trying to plan for it a month ahead, plan for your next vacation now. Yeah airline tickets and hotel rates are a little skewed right now, but you can look at historical prices to get a better idea. While you’re at it, plan other future vacations you had in mind. Even if you don’t go on the trip, you can learn a thing or two about a place. Additionally, now you have the travel information to share with other people.
4. Work on trying to touch your toes
Or just work on being more flexible. I can’t touch my toes and am incredibly inflexible. Quite frankly, I’m tired of it. Also, I think I should do at least one good thing for my body since I can’t go to the gym and sit or eat all day. If you share that same sentiment below is a quick 10 minute video to start your journey to becoming more flexible.
5. Organize your digital photos
With the advent of our phone cameras, people are taking more photos. If you’re like me, those photos are incredibly unorganized. Most photo folders on my computer are labeled as “photo dumps.” I’ve been taking this time to try and organize them. The process has also been nice because I see nice photos I haven’t seen in awhile.
6. Make useful crafts
.Do I need a phone stand or a finger pin cushion? Not really, but it’s made my life just a little easier and sometimes life’s about the little things. Scroll through the useful crafts section of pinterest, Youtube, or whatever media channel you prefer and try to make things you’ve wanted or you’ll just see things you thought you wouldn’t need. I can make a hanging planter? You’re telling me I can reuse my old tin cans? Ridiculous, what a time to live
